South-Southwest Suburban United Way hosted its first ever Cash 4 Gold Night at Blue Fox Bar & Grill last Thursday, January 28. People from across the Southland area filled the back room of Blue Fox and brought with them old wedding bands, broken necklace chains, and other unwanted gold items. The gold refinery, L&L Enterprises, came and cashed out over $4,000 to attendees. Jeri Caufield, resident of Crestwood, was surprised with how much cash she got for her gold. “I had no idea that these old rings just sitting in my drawer would be worth any money at all. I was also happy to hear that the refinery donates 10% of the total sales to United Way. I didn’t do much, but was glad I could help out in a small way.”
Working with a gold refinery that has been open for 31 years helped United Way guarantee a trustful and reliable source for attendees to cash in their gold. Eddie Lofton, owner of L&L Enterprises, says they have been helping out organizations for the past 10 years to add something new to their fundraisers. “This is our way of giving, because people are really hurting and need a helping hand. We think this is the best way to do it, because everyone is receiving a benefit.”
This was just the beginning of charitable events held at Blue Fox Bar & Grill. The large back room is a great venue for South-Southwest Suburban United Way and other local charities to hold events. Dan Petrouski, owner of Blue Fox Bar & Grill, is always willing to utilize the space for a good cause. “In this economy, I think it is important to give back, and we want to be involved in any way we can to help our customers and neighbors in the Southland area.”
South-Southwest Suburban United Way will be bringing L&L Enterprises to their “A Night at the Races” event at Balmoral Park on March 14, 2010. To attend the event and have a chance to sell your gold, call 708.371.1328 or email us at
